France willl help SA with power crisis: Sarkozy

French President Nicholas Sarkozy has met with President Thabo Mbeki in Cape Town today

Speaking at a media conference in Cape Town today, French President Nicholas Sarkozy has assured President Thabo Mbeki that France will support South Africa with the electricity crisis. French engineers will be arriving within the next few days in South Africa.

Sarkozy arrived earlier today in Cape Town for a scheduled two-day state visit. The visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral political, economic and trade relations with France aimed at consolidating North - South relations.

Sarkozy will also address a joint sitting of Parliament at 14:15 today - which will be broadcast live on Radio 2000, SABC3 and SABC International.
