Mbeki arrives in Brazil for IBSA summit

President Thabo Mbeki

President Thabo Mbeki will meet with his Indian and Brazilian counterparts today

September 13, 2006, 09:30

President Thabo Mbeki has arrived in the Brazilian capital, Brasilia, ahead of the first strategic trilateral summit between India, Brazil and South Africa (IBSA), scheduled for later today.

This is the first time the three leaders will meet at summit level within the context of the IBSA Forum.

Mbeki's visit to Brazil comes within the context of the need to strengthen political, economic and trade relations between the three countries with a view to advancing and consolidating south-south relations. This is for increased market and trade access.
