Mamelodi Sundowns have sunk Jomo Cosmos further into the relegation zone. A last minute score by Brian Aldave gave the Brazillians a deserved 1-0 win over Ezenkosi in the Absa Premiership match played at Orkney Stadium this afternoon.
Cosmos desperately needed to win to get out of the relegation zone. They have not won a single match in their last 16 outings in the league. Sundowns, in an effort to keep their slim hopes for a title defense alive, launched an all out attack. But when the chance to score arose, Josta Dladla developed cold feet in front of the goal post. Cosmos' Nkosinathi Nhleko also missed a clear cut opportunity to score.
In the second half, Reneilwe Letsholonyane came to Cosmos’ rescue when he cleared from the goal line. Cosmos launched a renewed attack, but Downs were able to absorb the pressure.
The Brazilians had the final say when substitute Aldave scored a goal that put Sundowns third on the log.
In another Premiership match billed for tonight, second placed Ajax Cape Town take on AmaZulu at Athlone Stadium. Ajax need a win to strengthen their chances for the Absa Premiership title.
