Free State Stars move up to fourth on PSL log, ahead of Platinum Stars, who drop down to sixth

Platinum Stars' preparations for their CAF Champions League showdown with Al-Ahly on Friday night took a serious dent last night.

Free State Stars winger Ruben Cloete starred for his side as they convincingly beat Stars 3-1 in the Absa Premiership by Free State Stars at Olympia Park last night.

The result means the Free State side move up to fourth, ahead of Platinum Stars, who drop down to sixth.

Cloete, who mesmerised the hosts down the left wing, created both goals for his team in the first half. Striker Diyo Sibisi nodded home at the near-post on the half-hour mark and five minutes later hit-man Collins Chabalala powerfully headed home a 30m pass from the skilful left footer.

Simba Marumo netted for the Tycoons with less than 10 minutes to go. - Additional reporting by Sapa
