The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth is to know tomorrow whether or not it will host matches during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup tournament. South Africa's 2010 World Cup organisers are in a two-day meeting to decide the future of the venue.
Yesterday FIFA's Jerome Valcke and Jim Brown were part of a delegation that inspected the 48 000-seater. This followed FIFA's concerns about the pace of construction of the stadium. There are five venues listed for next year's Confederations Cup and the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium is the only one under construction.
Officials say work should be complete by December.
