New Bafana coach ready to tackle challenges

Joel Natalino Santana

Santana has been appointed to the post of Bafana Bafana coach

April 28, 2008, 17:00

New Bafana Bafana coach Joel Natalino Santana says he's ready for the challenges that lie ahead of him.

Speaking to the SABC in Brazil today, Santana says despite lacking international coaching experience, he can overcome this hurdle. He says he has huge support from the South African Football Association (Safa) and his mentor Carlos Parreria.

Santana met earlier with Safa CEO Raymond Hack to sign his two year contract.

Meanwhile, Safa has dismissed reports that it could face the wrath of Sports Minister Makhenkesi Stofile for failing to follow correct procedure in hiring Santana.

Santana is expected to arrive in South Africa on May 12.
