South Africa will formally take the reins for the 2010 Soccer World Cup at a prestigious ceremony in Berlin, Germany, later today.
Sepp Blatter, the FIFA president, will pass the ball to President Thabo Mbeki and the new logo for the 2010 World Cup will be launched.
South Africa will be the first African country to host the global soccer spectacular.
During his visit, Mbeki will also hold discussions with Horst Koehler, the German president, and Angela Merkel, the German chancellor. Mbeki's delegation includes members of the Local Organising Committee and various ministers.
Meanwhile, Blatter has dismissed reports that South Africa could lose the right to host the 2010 World Cup.
