Springbok coach Peter de Villiers says this year will be the last that foreign-based players will be considered for selection for the Springbok team.
De Villiers, who took over from World Cup winning coach Jake White at the beginning of this season, will announce his first Springbok training squad after the Sharks and Chiefs Super 14 match in Durban on Saturday.
He says he will consider overseas based players like John Smit, Victor Matfield, Percy Montgomery and Butch James for the sake of continuity. However, from next year onwards the players will be aware that they will not be selected if they choose to play overseas.
