Derick Hougaard is unlikely to feature in the Bulls' last Super 14 match against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein this weekend.
Bulls team doctor Tommie Smook is still concerned about the abscess in Hougaard's gluteus muscle that turned septic after the Waratahs' game. Hougaard was therefore not considered for last weekend's match against the Brumbies.
Smook is also worried about flank Wikus van Heerden who received a hard blow on his knee, but he is optimistic that JP Nel, Deon Stegmann (both with colds), Zane Kirchner (bruised bicep muscle) and Bakkies Botha (lower back) will be fit for the match against the Cheetahs. Nel and Stegmann did not train with the squad today. If Hougaard can't play, Morne Steyn will again start at flyhalf with Pedrie Wannenburg likely to take over from Van Heerden if the latter has to sit out Saturday's match. - Sapa
