New South Wales beat the Sharks 28-13
|
April 27, 2008, 18:15
Efforts by the Sharks and the Stormers to get into the top in the Super 14 have cost them dearly. Both teams have lost players to injuries.
Schalk Burger's injury in yesterday's game against New Zealand's Highlanders could derail the Stormers’ Super 14 campaign. Burger will miss the rest of the Super 14 season.
He will be out for six weeks.
His injury was not the only one to cripple the Stormers. Former All Black flyhalf Tony Brown, who made his starting debut for the Cape side, was forced to retire early. He suffered a rib injury.
The Sharks have lost French flyhalf Frederic Michalak. He could be out of action for six months after tearing a ligament in his left knee during yesterday's match against the Waratahs.
Sharks captain Johan Muller was also forced to pull out of the match just before the start because of injury. After 10 matches the Sharks are third on the log. The Stormers are in sixth place, although only one point separates them.
