The International Rugby Board (IRB) is set to discuss the issue of rugby quotas, transformation, and South Africa's new Sports Amendment Bill this week.
SA Rugby Union (SARU) President, Oregan Hoskins, is in New Zealand, and has confirmed that he will discuss the issue with IRB top management.
This comes after former Springbok rugby players and minority initiative AfriForum met Hoskins on Tuesday. They voiced their concerns to Saru about what they call political interference in rugby, and the contravention of the IRB's regulations.
However, Sports Minister Makhenkesi Stofile has slammed what he calls the re-emergence of former ambassadors of apartheid in South African rugby.
Stofile has accused former captains Wynand Claasen, Theuns Stofberg, Hannes Marais, Abie Malan and Johan Claasen of willingly oiling the apartheid wagon. He says they will not be allowed to re-impose their political will on SA rugby.
Parliament recently passed an amendment bill allowing the Sports Minister to issue guidelines for the promotion of equity, representivity and redress in sport.
