Two Blue Bulls rugby supporters have pulled two Cheetah supporters around Church Square in a homemade carriage after losing a bet on the outcome of this year's Currie Cup final.
It is the fifth year that Pieter Schoeman, a Blue Bull supporter, entered into the bet with supporters from other teams. Schoeman and his friend Anton Ferreira had to pull Cheetah supporters Alfie Schutte and Schoeman's wife, Joanine, around Church Square twice, while calling out the Cheetah's team name.
The Cheetah supporters seemed relaxed while enjoying a glass of champagne on their ride, while the Bulls supporters sweated their way around Church Square. Schoeman started betting with friends and colleagues on his favourite team's win in the Currie Cup final about five years ago. At first, the losers had to push the winners around Church Square in a wheelbarrow, but their means of transport has now improved to a homemade carriage.
Schutte says he waited his whole life for the Cheetahs to win. But Schoeman says the Bulls will be back in full force next year. Although the Blue Bull supporters swallowed their pride for a while, all was done in good spirit.
