Former South African netball captain Bronwyn Bock-Jonathan is back in the national squad, and has been named captain of the team to play a three-test series against Malawi this month.
The series starts in Polokwane on Saturday, then moves to Cape Town next Monday and ends in Durban next Wednesday. Malawi will be tough competition – they have won the last two encounters between the two sides, including a match at last year’s Commonwealth Games.
Bock-Jonathan ruptured her right anterior cruciate ligament in 2003, and has had extensive reconstruction surgery. There are three new caps in the 15-member squad: midfielder Nthabiseng Mbatha, and defenders Nombulelo Shongwe and Doretha Joubert.
