ICC eyes Lorgat for top post

Haroon Lorgat has been appointed as the new ICC chief executive

The International Cricket Council (ICC) appears to have taken a huge step forward in appointing a new chief executive.

Former convener of Cricket South Africa's selection committee, Haroon Lorgat, has accepted an official offer to take up the job after a meeting with among others ICC president-elect David Morgan and ICC president Ray Mali in Cape Town.

However, Lorgat's appointment is still some way away. Morgan will now report to the recruitment committee, which will have to agree on the preferred candidate. It will then make a recommendation to the ICC executive board to confirm the appointment as early as possible.
