South Africa has already collected 12 medals at the All Africa Games in Algeria. South African swimmers have collected a large bulk of the medals.
The gold medals were collected by Troyden Prinsloo, Melissa Corfe, Cameron van der Berg and the women's relay team. George du Rand, Lise-Marie Burger and Jessica Pengelly all won silver, and Jean Bastion, Kathryn Meaklim and Thabang Moeketsane took bronze. The other two bronze medals went to Rachel Barlow in fencing and Mariska Loots in judo.
Disabled athletes
The disabled athletes will start their competition tomorrow, after the original start was delayed yesterday. Dion Bishop, the manager of South Africa's disabled athletes at the games, says the organisers postponed the competition after finding they did not have enough entries for the scheduled events.
Disabled athletes compete in various categories. Bishop says there have to be at least five entries from five different countries for an event to take place. A new schedule has now been drawn up where some categories have been combined, and some deleted, although it is not yet known which.
