" Jail Birds" - Viewers' Comments

people in prison shouldnt have any rights cos they gave that up when they decided 2 be a criminal

The sentence should match the crime for female and male.

Review all convicted prisoners and release those who have completed half their sentence and consider those that have children

I think that woman who behave well adhere 2 the rules should be given lighter sentences as a reward. That poor black woman deserves to be home already

if you cant do the time, dont do the crime, dont commit a crime and then whine about the prison conditions, all of the prisoners that complain about their consequences, should consider their deeds !

It doesnt matter the sex of the criminal the sentence should fit the crime

Women in prison shldnt have done anything wromg in the 1st place. We are here to set an eg. To our men that are weaker than us.

If women want 2 have equality, they cant pick & choose which parts they want. If u face more risk/responsibility, DONT DO THE CRIME!!

Stop lauding the rights of criminals. What about those theyve killed and harmed. Their acts are inhuman yet they are afforded human rights while the victim must try to put their life together afterwards How ease they complain about the lack of hair products When theyve deprived a family of a loved one!

Equality is here. Deal with it. Too few responsible parents. We need education & jobs (govt), & LEGAL entrepreneurial initiative (society).

Thank you for the programme on Women in Prison - may it act as a deterrent - because no matter how one looks at it crime does not pay. I wonder if there are colleges in SA who would consider the provision of free or low cost courses to younger prisoners via the video conferencing system to equip them in some way for life on the outside & ie to earn an honest living.

Your expose moved me to tears. More money should be spent on centres for educating people who transgress due to their circumstances.

i am also a woman and i can tell u women can be more vicious than men

Lisa Vetten is bias and unscientific. Women suffer but so do men. It is contra productive to contrast gender.

WOMAN WAS ALREADY PUNISH THE DAY THEY BROUGHT KIDS IN TO THE WORLD.IM A BOY AN I ADMIRE A WOMAN COZ THEY SEE OTHER POEPLES NEEDS FIRST.UNLIKE MEN

.Everyones got the right to live in society, but once you commit a crime you give up your right to live in society.

.Prisons must be upgraded in terms of better food and rehabilitation policies.

How can an ordinary citizen offer help to inmates without having to go thru prison red tape, i.e. Hours waiting?

It breaks my heart when i see how devastating prison is for the families at home, the programme had my eyes pricked with tears but it brought back the memory of an awareness movie we watched at the bank i work at,  YOU GET A SENTENCE AND YR FAMILY GETS LIFE maybe that type of ad needs to be made public like the H I V ads we see everywhere. It certainly hits home as we are not born criminals, it is often about a lack of education and examples set

at home. Contact Nedcor for a very moving video about crime and that thought provoking advert, i really believe a lot of people would be positively affec
