Alleged human trafficking case postponed

May 05, 2008, 15:00

The case involving two women arrested for human trafficking in Welkom has been postponed in the local magistrate's court until June 9 for further investigation.

The accused were arrested after a tip-off that they were luring victims into prostitution by advertising job opportunities for young women. This happened from August 2006 until April 2008.

The accused face charges of intimidation, assault, abduction and trafficking in persons for sexual offences. They were granted bail of R5000 each, on condition that they do not interfere with witnesses.
