Anti-racism protest underway in Tshwane

March 12, 2008, 12:45

About 300 students have gathered in central Tshwane for a protest march against racism. The South African Students Congress (Sasco) says they want to highlight the plight of students and workers subjected to racism at campuses.

Meanwhile members of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) and its affiliates demonstrated in front of the main building of the University of the Free State (UFS). This comes in the wake of the controversial mock integration video that was produced by white students.

The union says they are very concerned about racial incidents on campus and they want the university’s management to make sure that elements of racism does not slip through the cracks.
