Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang will leave for Kampala, Uganda today to participate in the first Global Forum on Human Resources for Health, which begins today until March 7.
Health Department spokesperson Sibani Mngadi says the forum has been convened by the Global Health Workforce Alliance. He says it will be attended by up to 1 000 participants, including government leaders, health, development, civil society, academic and health professional leaders from around the world.
Tshabalala-Msimang will address the official opening of the Forum as the Chair of the African Union Bureau of Health Ministers. She will share the platform with Ugandan President General Yoweri Museveni and Deputy Director-General Anarfi-Asamoa Baah.
The Global Forum will also provide a platform for sharing and exploring solutions, consensus and capacity building, and will further galvanise a global movement that is emerging as a response to the increasingly pertinent human resources for health crisis.
