Defective condoms dumped north of Durban

October 14, 2007, 11:45

Close to a 100 000 condoms have been found illegally dumped in a residential area at Inanda north of Durban.

It's believed that these condoms are part of the batch that was recalled by the Health Department a few months ago.

MEC for Environmental Affairs in KwaZulu Natal Mtholephi Mthimkhulu and the Green Scorpions have visited the site where the condoms were found.

Mthimkhulu says there are strong indications that the condoms could have been illegally dumped by a contractor who was supposed to transport them to an incinerator for destruction.

“These condoms are posing a health hazard and I have been told that children were even beginning to play with them…,” said Mthimkulu.
