Comforter's Healing Gift (CHG) company has distanced itself from a Saturday Star article that detailed how people were being sold products from the company that allegedly cured Aids. "The company has at no stage made any claims that the product cures Aids, diabetes and or any other diseases," said CHG chairperson Mashudu Ramano in a statement last night.
In the Saturday Star article a Uitenhage healer, Freddie Isaacs, told two undercover 'customers' sent by the newspaper, that the CHG-packaged pills and black liquid he sold them would cure Aids. Ramano said the individuals quoted in the article including Freddie Isaacs did not have the authority to speak on behalf of the company. He said the company was not presently operational and therefore any activities undertaken were unauthorised.
Ramano also said he regretted to note that the media report was initiated immediately upon the nomination of parliament of Christine Qunta as a SABC board member. Qunta is apparently a director of CHG.
In the Saturday Star article Qunta said the CHG was still dormant and the product was still being tested by the Medical Research Council. She apparently said the product should be described as a nutritional supplement. - Sapa
