More than 400 Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) members have gathered at the Batho community hall in Bloemfontein to march in protest against problems nurses are faced with in the country.
The nurses are expected to highlight the plight of their profession in the wake of the exodus of professionals to first world countries. They say it is hard to do their jobs with a nurse-to-patient ratio of one to 30 and the lack of equipment at hospitals.
The march will reach its peak later today when a memorandum of demands is handed over to the provincial health MEC and South African Nursing Council.
