September 23, 2004, 20:45

Very cold and wet conditions are expected to hit the western high ground of the Western Cape and Northern Cape provinces tomorrow, spreading to the Eastern Cape on Saturday, and reaching the KwaZulu-Natal southern Drakensberg on Sunday, the South African Weather Service said.

Snowfalls are likely over the north eastern mountains of Eastern Cape on Saturday, spreading to KwaZulu-Natal southern Drakensberg early on Sunday. Heavy falls of rain are expected over the Eastern Cape midlands and the Transkei on Saturday, a Weather Service statement said.

Meanwhile, hot, dry and windy conditions, conducive to the development and spread of veld fires are expected over the northern KwaZulu-Natal and the Mpumalanga lowveld tomorrow and Saturday. - Sapa
