Tomorrow is d-day for registration of foreigners

A camp housing foreigners

Foreigners that have refused to register for temporary IDs are being deported

July 20, 2008, 07:30

Victims of the recent xenophobic attacks across the country have been given until tomorrow evening to register with the Home Affairs department. However, many foreign nationals at the temporary shelter in Glenanda, south of Johannesburg, are refusing to do so. They say they find the process confusing.

Last week, violence erupted at the camp after they disrupted the registration process.

Gauteng government spokesperson Thabo Masebe has warned that those who refuse to register with the authorities will find themselves in trouble.
