Sanef concerned about developments at SABC

Suspended: SABC CEO Dali Mpofu and Head of News Snuki Zikalala

Sanef has expressed concern over suspensions at the SABC

May 09, 2008, 15:00

The South African National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) has expressed concern over the current state of SABC leadership.

Sanef says they fear the suspension of both the SABC's Group CEO, Dali Mpofu and the Head of News and Current Affairs, Snuki Zikalala, will interfere with the day-to-day running of the SABC.

The ANC's parliamentary vote of no confidence in the board is also an issue of worry to the media forum.

Sanef has called for an end to the deployment of executives to the SABC based on political affiliation, and for a revised selection process for the Board to ensure greater civil reperesentation. Earlier this week, Mpofu and Zikalala were both suspended from the broadcaster.
