Children's Forum to be launched in Port Elizabeth

May 09, 2008, 10:30

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is launching a Children's Forum to look at issues facing children in the metro.

At least 150 delegates from Nelson Mandela Bay schools will be attending the launch and will elect a leadership body. The elections will be facilitated by the municipality's constituency services.

The municipality's spokesperson, Kupido Baron, says this is an opportunity for children to voice their concerns. “In terms of the children's forum, the most important thing is that they now have the opportunity to give input from a child's point of view. But the core issue here is to give children a platform to voice their concerns and to deal with it pro-actively as well,“ Baron says.

He says they will be given a very good opportunity to be pro-active on behalf of themselves as children.
