The search for lions that are reported to have escaped from the Kruger National Park onto land owned by the Matsulu community, near Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, is ongoing.
The spokesperson of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, Jimmy Masombuko, says they have not found the lions yet, but members of the community insist they have seen the animals.
Masombuko says people should not make hoax calls. "Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency has been notified that there are lions roaming the area of Mpakeni and Matsulu and other surrounding areas, but up to date we have not found any tangible information that denotes that there are lions that are roaming the area.
"However, we would like to urge the community within the surrounding areas to be extra cautious."
