Board in late night meeting over Zikalala saga

Zikalala is suing the SABC

The SABC board was locked in a late night meeting yesterday following the shocking announcement of the suspension of Group Executive of News and Current Affairs, Snuki Zikalala yesterday. Zikalala was suspended with immediate effect by the Group CEO, Dali Mpofu.

Details of the meeting were not immediately available. Mpofu says he suspended Zikalala over charges of gross misconduct relating to the alleged leaking of confidential SABC documents. However he has denied that this relates to the latest media reports over a leaked board memorandum that details an apparent rift between the SABC board and management team.

The broadcaster is yet to announce who will act in Zikalala's position pending a formal inquiry into the allegations against him.
