Some Limpopo communal farmers have been losing livestock to lions along the border with the Kruger National Park.
The lions, which apparently escaped from the park, are roaming the veld and devouring cattle at various villages outside Malamulele.
More than 10 cattle have been killed at the villages of Peni, Govhu and Phugwani. Farmers' spokesperson Sonnyboy Sithole says the loss of livestock will drive them into poverty, as the government and SANParks don't want to accept responsibility for the losses incurred.
Authorities at SANParks and the environmental affairs department have not been available for comment yet.
