Nationwide Airlines has ceased all operations and cancelled their flights
|
April 29, 2008, 15:30
Nationwide Airlines has ceased all operations and cancelled their flights. Airports Company of South Africa spokesperson Solomon Mogale says in a statement the company has voluntarily stopped all operations.
It cites a litany of issues relating to the suspension of flights last year after an engine fell off one of their planes. This includes spiralling fuel costs and a failed BEE deal, which resulted in a cash flow problem.
Nationwide chief executive Vernon Bricknell says: "Our cash-flow has become critical and as a result have decided to voluntarily cease all flight operations until further notice." He added: "We apologise to our loyal customers for any and all inconveniences experienced." - Additional reporting by Sapa
