The Mitchell's Plain Taxi Forum says an urgent meeting with all stakeholders is needed to address the ongoing rivalry between taxi groups over the lucrative taxi routes of Delft and Hanover Park.
This comes after violent clashes at the weekend between the Mitchell's Plain Taxi Forum and rival association Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (Cata) at taxi ranks in Mitchell's Plain.
Three taxi drivers were shot and wounded. The Forum’s vice chairperson Nazeen Abdurahman says they need to identify different routes for each of the taxi associations.
Cata is expected to hold its own meeting today on the issue.
