A car belonging to the Lesedi Municipal Manager in Ratanda location, Heidleburg was burnt in the early hours of today, following a protest.
Police spokesperson Julia Claasen said the burning of the car happened after a dispute with municipal workers who were striking for salary increases yesterday afternoon at about 2pm. "Yesterday afternoon people were trying to burn the local library and threw rubbish all over the municipality property," said Captain Thivhulawi Tshilite.
Police are investigating a case of arson and no arrests have been made. "More police have been placed in the Lesedi area and are on alert," said Claasen. – Sapa
