Heavy rains, cold weather and strong winds are expected to continue in Gauteng for the rest of the week. The SA Weather Services says this is due to a cold front passing through the area.
Temperatures should warm up by Tuesday, but heavy isolated showers and overcast weather will continue until the weekend. Police report close to 20 accidents in Johannesburg and Ekhuruleni since this morning, with at least one driver seriously injured and several sustaining minor injuries.
Police spokesperson Jimmy Maboko says motorists are not driving safely on the wet and slippery roads.
