Govt promises to speed up probe into Buscor crash

March 13, 2008, 16:45

The Mpumalanga Roads and Transport Department has promised to speed up investigations into the cause of a bus accident that claimed 12 lives and critically injured 23 passengers. The accident took place between White River and Nelspruit.

Speaking during the memorial service of the victims at Mgcobaneni sports ground near Hazyview, Roads and Transport MEC David Mabuza said investigations will shed light on the cause of the accident. Mabuza says he hopes the driver of the bus - who has been discharged from hospital - will be able to assist in establishing the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, Buscor - the owners of the bus involved in the accident - has promised to assist the bereaved families with access to the Road Accident Fund, among other things.
