Arrive Alive, SA's road safety campaign

Scores of people have been killed on the country's roads

March 13, 2008, 10:30

Four people died and ten others were injured when a taxi overturned on the N17 in Brakpan this morning, said ER24.

Spokesperson Riana Beech said a minibus taxi driver lost control of the vehicle and it crashed through a side barrier and overturned at the Denne Road offramp at 8am. Four occupants, including the driver, were declared dead on scene. Another 10 passengers sustained injuries ranging from serious to not-so-serious, she said.

Beech said the N17 to towards Johannesburg had been closed to all traffic while clean-up operations took place and she urged motorists to use alternative routes." - Sapa
