The first group of beneficiaries of the N2 Gateway project in Delft started moving into their houses today.
This comes after a week of pandemonium over the disputed houses sparked off by the eviction of more than 1 000 backyard dwellers, who illegally occupied the houses in December last year.
A mother of four, who has been squatting for the past 10 years, became one of the lucky few who were handed keys to their new homes. However, she says her joy was short-lived after a mob descended on her house just as she was unpacking her belongings.
Tight security has been thrown around the site to ensure that the rightful owners move into their houses without any disruptions.
