A KLM plane was forced to turn back to OR Tambo International after experiencing technical problems
|
January 07, 2008, 16:30
Dutch airline KLM says the faulty engine that forced its Netherlands bound aircraft to return to OR Tambo international airport last night, will be flown to Amsterdam for further investigation.
The airline now says it can neither confirm nor deny that a fire was the cause of the engine failure.
KLM's general manager for Southern Africa, Yeshwant Pawar, says a replacement engine for the grounded aircraft is expected to arrive later tonight. Pawar says the airline adheres to the strictest safety standards.
