January 07, 2008, 05:00

A plane from Dutch airline KLM en route to Amsterdam was forced to turn back to OR Tambo International Airport early this morning after experiencing technical problems. One hour after take-off, the pilot of KLM flight 592 announced to passengers that an engine had failed.

The Boeing 747 with its 300 passengers landed safely at OR Tambo at 3.30pm this morning. A replacement engine is now to be flown in from Amsterdam.

Passengers are being accommodated at local hotels. When asked about their experience, they said they were not scared at all.
