Scores of villagers are expected to attend the funeral service of two men who were shot and killed outside the Kruger National Park's Phafuri gate in Limpopo.
They were allegedly shot by game rangers guarding a piece of land belonging to the Makuleke community within the Kruger Park. It is alleged that Albert Machete, Colbert Mavundadavhi and Sunday Mpofu were driving in a car along the Madimbo Corridor when they were allegedly involved in a gun battle with game rangers.
Police say the rangers accused the men of poaching. The only survivor of the incident, Mpofu, has denied this. He says they were patrolling the area to guard against stock theft. Four rangers have been arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder. They are out on bail of five hundred rand each.
