Cape traffic expected to increase from today

Traffic increasing

January 04, 2008, 11:45

Traffic volumes are expected to pick up on Western Cape roads from today as most holidaymakers will be returning home to start work on Monday.

Six people were killed in a horror collision between a car and a bakkie towing a trailer on the N7 highway between Piketberg and Malmesbury yesterday.

Spokesperson for the department of Community Safety, Makhaya Mani, says traffic volumes are low this morning with officials well prepared for the expected peak on Sunday.

The province has recorded 149 fatalities since the start of the festive season. Half of those killed in the road carnage were pedestrians.
