Mango aims to become best low cost air-line

January 03, 2008, 16:00

Low-cost-airline Mango says it's still accessible and affordable in 2008.

Mango chief executive officer Nico Bezuidenhout says 2007 was a phenomenal year for the airline, achieving a 97% load factor across its networks during the festive season.

Bezuidenhout says he believes that more South Africans will turn to low cost airlines like Mango to fulfil their travel needs.

In November last year, Mango launched a new distribution channel with Checkers and Shoprite stores.

During 2007, the airline also introduced a new payment method, accepting Edcon store cards on-line and through its call centres.

It also initiated distribution through travel agents and launched its first stand-alone kiosk in Soweto. - Sapa
