Mourners have gathered at the OR Tambo Stadium in Denilton near Groblersdal for the mass funeral of 12 children who were killed in a horrific crash last weekend.
More than 2000 people, among them learners dressed in their school uniforms, are paying their last respects. The pictures of the 12 learners are placed in separate tents for the public to view.
The learners from the OR Tambo High School at Moutse in Limpopo were returning from an unsanctioned trip to Pretoria when the taxi in which they were traveling collided with a truck and burst into flames. The accident happened on the notorious Moloto road.
Meanwhile, Limpopo Transport MEC Justice Piitso has lambasted drivers who do not take responsibility for their actions. This comes after a pedestrian was killed in a hit and run accident at Shayandima near Thohoyandou yesterday. Pitso has appealed to anyone who may have seen the accident to contact police.
