New power stations boost SA’s readiness for 2010

Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka

There are suggestions that Mlambo-Ngcuka will be appointed Treasury-General

October 01, 2007, 22:30

Deputy president Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka says the additional new power stations in Mossel Bay and Atlantis will ensure that the country is ready for 2010, as adequate energy supplies will be part of the success of that event.

Mlambo-Ngcuka gave the keynote address at the official opening of the power station in Atlantis. She has assured that power supply will not be a problem during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

“They want complete security because the majority of those who watch the matches are not in the stadium - they're all over the world, so nothing can go wrong during a game… Team Energy in SA is ready to give them (FIFA) on an on and off grid - whatever they want, they get,” said Mlambo-Ngcuka.
