Thirty-six people arrested in the Olievenhoutbosch informal settlement after fighting between South Africans and Zimbabweans, will appear in the Pretoria magistrate's court today. They are facing public violence charges.
The arrests followed violent clashes between residents over the past few days. Locals are apparently unhappy over Zimbabweans finding jobs more easily.
Two people were killed, though initial reports said five. Police say the situation is now under control and about 90 officers have been deployed in the area to provide visible policing.
