Free State ANC spokesperson, Qondile Khedamahas, says the ANC is demanding that Free State University Rector Frederick Fourie and the council of the university resign. The demand comes amid the racism video debacle.
He says if Fourie was a man of his word, some of the things students are complaining about would not have occurred. "For example, the question of the integration of students into residences - including Reitz, and the language policy, could have long been attended to.".
Meanwhile the ANC, SA Communist Party (SACP) and the SA Congress of Trade Unions (Cosatu) say their lawyers are currently trying to reverse a court interdict granted to the university that prohibits workers and students from taking part in protest marches and disrupting classes.
The alliance blames the university authorities for playing double standards in the video saga. They say the authorities claim to be condemning these racist acts, while at the same time they are interdicting students and workers from taking part in protest marches on campus.
