Govt intervenes to help stressed matriculants

The matric results will be released on the 28th of this month

December 23, 2007, 21:15

The KwaZulu-Natal department of education has joined forces with the health department to help matrics deal with the stress of upcoming results.

There have been reports of students circulating SMS's, threatening to commit suicide should they fail. Education spokesperson, Christi Naude, has called on pupils to join stress centres, that will help them deal with the situation.

The matric results will be released on the 28th of this month.

Meanwhile analysts have predicted that the matric pass rate will continue its downward spiral this year. But the pass rate is not expected to be significantly lower than last year's 66.6%.
