A Greenside High School pupil was rushed to hospital today after he was stabbed allegedly by a gang believed to be "terrorising" pupils at the school, Gauteng police said.
The boy was stabbed in the neck when he tried to intervene on behalf of a fellow schoolmate who was robbed at a bus stop outside the school around 2pm, said Lungelo Dlamini, a police spokesperson. "Four boys allegedly robbed a 15-year-old boy of cash and when the (second) boy intervened, he was stabbed in the neck," said Dlamini.
Dlamini said the boy's condition was not known but he had been bleeding. The object used to stab him was also not known. The four boys, aged between 15 and 18, were arrested by Parkview police and would be charged with robbery and assault. "They were believed to be part of a gang that is terrorising Greenside High School children," said Dlamini. - Sapa
