Some 300 000 Ecstasy tablets with an estimated street value of R22.5 million were confiscated at the Johannesburg International Airport last week, the South African Police Services (SAPS) said today.
Tummi Golding, the SAPS spokesperson, said the drugs were found during a police operation conducted between the crime intelligence task team and the crime prevention unit.
The drugs arrived in a cargo and were apparently transported from Amsterdam and destined for South Africa, Golding said. She said police were still investigating and no arrests had yet been made. - Sapa
