Lawyers of former Fidentia boss, J. Arthur Brown, have failed to secure his immediate release.
Brown's lawyer, Rashaad Khan says the urgent application, brought in the Cape High court last night, was done on the basis that Brown's warrant of arrest was unlawful.
Brown was arrested last Friday in Khan's office on new charges of theft and money laundering, amounting to more than R1 million. Khan says the Scorpions had earlier agreed not to execute the warrant issued on April 3, and had also agreed to withdraw the warrant issued for Brown's wife, Susan. He says they are acting in bad faith.
