Willie Madisha's woes deepen
|
May 12, 2008, 12:45
Former Cosatu president, Willie Madisha, finds himself even more isolated. He has been expelled as a member of the SA Communist Party (SACP) following the alleged R500 000 donation saga to the party.
Meanwhile Madisha dismissed as "petty politicking" a renewed demand for his removal as chair of the Job Creation Trust (JCT). Cosatu says it will be appointing new trustees to the JCT board.
Madisha was facing an independent inquiry established by the SA Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu) to investigate his conduct. The inquiry aimed to determine if Madisha had been using the union's vehicle when he allegedly ferried the alleged donation from businessman Charles Modise in 2002. The inquiry was also investigating if Madisha had disrespected the union's NEC resolutions by speaking out on the donation.
Madisha has taken Sadtu and Cosatu to the Equality Court for unfair discrimination. The date for the Equality Court case has not yet been set.
